When it comes to research for a wedding many couples will spend a lot of time researching music and they should, as in my experience, most people view the evening entertainment as the most memorable part of the wedding.
Irish folks love a good night out but we still need a bit of encouragement to get out on the floor and that’s where a good band comes in.
The top five things to consider when picking a band are:
- Interaction with the crowd
A good front man/woman is a must! This is far more important than the quality of the singers vocal or the amazing lead guitarist - Do the band look like they are enjoying themselves?
If they’re looking down at their feet while playing and standing still it’s not going to encourage your guests to lunge out of their seats in a frenzy of excitement! If the band are having fun so will the crowd! - Do they hold showcases?
It’s so important to see a band live to see what they can do, a website can look impressive but you can’t beat seeing the band live. Nearly all reputable wedding bands have showcases & this will give you a chance to have a chat with them face to face. - How experienced are they?
Do they know what a good wedding set should include? They will need to know how to cater for all generations and tastes. Also, a good wedding band will have played most of the venues that weddings take place in and therefore know what to expect. - Finally, are they equipped to perform at your wedding? The right equipment and lights etc are so important. And do they have permanent members in the band? A good team who are used to working together will ensure a smooth run.
There’s a lot to take into account but as long as you ask the right questions and do a bit of research you’ll get the right band for you!
