Over the past 15 years, I estimate I’ve been to somewhere in the region of nearly 1000 odd weddings (so a lot!) and with each year I’ve seen my fair share of different trends and some have really impressed me.

But everyone at your wedding will have different tastes and it’s a pretty impossible thing to do to try and please everyone but by concentrating on getting the essentials of your wedding right like food, entertainment, flowers and a great dress! It will take the pressure off the smaller details.

One thing that will be remembered is the food, the music and the atmosphere, feed them and entertain them and don’t ask them to stand around too long, and your guests will be a happy bunch!

Little extras that show your personalities can be a nice touch and there’s plenty of great suppliers out there that can help you do just that. As long as you’re making these choices because you want to and not because the market tells you to you’ll have a wedding that reflects your personalities.

When choosing your wedding meal you’ll often find the old reliables on the menu but is there really a need to play it so safe? Even if you’re choosing a very traditional style for your wedding that doesn’t mean the cuisine needs to be.

One thing to consider is what you would choose to order from a menu at a restaurant. If it’s Italian or something oriental then why not considers something along those lines for your main meal?

It can be nice to take the time of year into account too, it’s good to serve something a little lighter during the summer months and something hearty and comforting during the winter. If you really don’t know what to serve but know you would like something unique why not look to your caterer for inspiration.

At the end of the day you want to know you and your guests are well fed and ready for a night of fun and dancing!
